When my friend Sonia Tay, the owner and creative director of Snoozer Loser NY, asked me to be the face of the New York-based label’s fall/winter 2011 scarf collection, I didn’t think twice. It was a perfect pairing from the beginning: We decided to juxtapose her modern prints with my classic and timeless style. Mixing old with new is a theme that runs throughout Past Fashion Future and it’s at the core of our styles series, Something Old, Something New. VIEW THE SLIDESHOW: EMMA GRADY x SNOOZER LOSER NYSnoozer Loser’s luscious 40% silk/ 60% viscose scarves are hand-printed individually with original artwork using toxin-free water-based inks by a team of skilled artists. They offer a modern twist to the classic Pashmina-style scarves you see everyone donning around town. I love accessories for their ability to transform an outfit, as well as their overall wearability and versatility. Sonia’s scarves are made-to-order and are sourced fair trade form the Himalayas. We had a blast on the photo shoot. I wanted to pair her scarves with blazers and classic outfits for fall. I looked to my own wardrobe for inspiration and all of the clothes and accessories are my own. (And if you’ve been following My Style, many of the pieces will look familiar.) As you know, the majority of my wardrobe is comprised of vintage clothing, hand-me-downs, thrift store finds, as well as some new items to keep it fresh. For each look, I focused on how to compliment the color and print of the scarf. So without further adieu, here is a slideshow with a few of my favorite looks.
